How rich sports owners pillage the public’s funds

Did you hear about the obscenely rich sports team owner who managed to convince civic leaders to use millions upon millions of public dollars to build his team a new sports stadium?

If you’ve followed sports for long enough, you’re probably confused about which owner, which city and which stadium we’re referencing; after all, there are so many to choose from.

But sometimes a story is so old and so familiar that its very ordinariness is what make it newsworthy.
